Mrs. Tierney's Rainbow of Healthy Snacks
Mrs. Tierney's class add color to the rainbow of healthy snacks in their classrooms. The students pick the color that best represents their snacks. For example, if they had a banana they would add yellow to the rainbow.
Student's in Ms. Wheeler's classroom study the different body systems.
The classes of Wheeler and Westra are studying the digestive system as part of the Human Body science unit. We spent today's class looking at where nutrients come from and which foods give us those nutrients. We are also focusing on different things we can do to keep our body systems healthy and working right...from eating foods rich in calcium to help our bones/skeletal system to stretching and warming up/cooling down when exercising (muscular systems) and refraining from smoking (respiratory system) etc. The goal of the next two lessons is to reinforce that much of what we eat helps keep our systems running smoothly.
