Lets Go! Letter to Parents

Dear Families,

To encourage physically active and healthy lifestyles, Falmouth Elementary School is promoting the Let’s Go 5-2-1-0 message throughout March.  It is an easy to remember healthy lifestyle message that encourages physical activity and healthy eating.

v    5 or more servings of fruits and vegetables
v    2 hours or less recreational screen time
v    1 hour or more of physical activity
v   0 sugary drinks, more water and low fat milk

March is National Nutrition Month. The school lunch program is working with us to encourage students (and staff) to eat a variety of fruits and vegetables at school. Nutrition information will be available in the cafeteria and throughout the elementary school.

Students will have the opportunity to answer trivia questions about nutrition and healthy eating when they visit the library in March.  Books about healthy eating and exercise will be on display in the library. PE and classroom teachers will also focus on this message.

We hope you will encourage the 5-2-1-0 message at home.  For further information check out the website www.letsgo.org, especially the parent section.  Other websites that encourage healthy eating and activity for kids are www.nutritionforkids.com, www.eatright.org, www.kidnetic.com and www.choosemyplate.gov.

Welcome to Falmouth Elementary's Wellness Blog

At Falmouth elementary school we believe that wellness and education are interconnected. Our goal is to use this blog as a tool for the community to see how we highlight wellness activities at our school.

We are focusing on nutrition for the month of March because this is national nutrition month.

Keep checking back as we will be updating this blog frequently throughout March with great information about nutrition!
