NUTRITION MONTH FUN

We have had a fun time celebrating Nutrition Month at FES. Students have learned about Nutrition, 5-2-1-0 and My Plate in their classrooms, their specials and the cafeteria. This week our principals joined in the fun by doing a healthy PRINCIPAL RAP to "wrap up" nutrition month. The pictures below tell the continued story of March Madness /Nutrition Month at FES.

NUTRITION MONTH ART

We celebrate Nutrition Month school wide during March. As you enter our school you are greeted with giant fruits and vegetables that make you smile and encourage you to eat 5 or more fruits and vegetables daily.

In the cafeteria we have new art displays done by students in Mrs. Taylor's and Mrs. Hall's art classes. First and second grade classes used large pieces of brown paper  from Ruth's Recyclables covered with  fruits and vegetables. The students used craypas for some and other classes decorated paper, just like Eric Carle then cut out and collaged the fruit/veggie shapes. Third, fourth and fifth graders participated in the two murals, "What's in your lunchbox? Student groups identified the five food groups and healthy fresh foods.

Fourth  and fifth grades did the drawings, painted with tempera and enhanced the paintings with oil pastels and third graders cut and arranged the pieces with "What makes a good composition?" in mind.

Enjoy the pictures and check out the blog later in March to see the other ways we highlight Nutrition month at FES.

MARCH IS NATIONAL NUTRITION MONTH

Dear Parents/ Guardians,

FES will be celebrating National National Nutrition Month school-wide. Each week we will focus on the 5-2-1-0 message through the announcements, our wellness blog and by sending health information handouts/links to teachers and parents. PE classes will learn about My Plate and Let’s Go 5-2-1-0. Specialists in music, library, art, computer, health and Spanish will integrate nutrition information in their classes. More information on healthy eating, interactive games, and children’s recipes are available at Let's Go and My Plate Kids.

Classroom teachers will share weekly information/ computer links with their parents so they can follow along at home. Thanks for joining us as we celebrate Nutrition Month.
